This Heirloom Vineyards Alcazar Castle Pinot Noir was produced from our best Adelaide Hills Vineyard in Charleston whose clones and viticulture embody the very best in cutting edge but old school viticulture and winemaking. Hand tended vines, sorted bunch by bunch, naturally open fermented, basket-pressed, 50% whole bunch and stored in well seasoned and 50% first use French oak barriques from bespoke coopers for 9 months. This wine is a barrel selection of the very best.
This is a tightly layered wine: soft but ever-present tannins are long and they support deftly a stunning and complex façade of pure pinot primary flavours: from black berry fruits to cherry and wild strawberries, herbs, and lavender. The full drama of an acid afterglow takes over the back-palate, stretching out the herbal and savoury after-palate. Fathomless pools of Time’s first pinot noir fruit flavour hide below. A wine with a tiger waiting at the gate...
This wine is suitable for vegans.
