James Halliday Wine Companion

Heirloom Vineyards is a 5 Red Star rated winery in James Halliday's The Wine Companion. This means "Outstanding winery regularly producing wines of exemplary quality and typicity. Will have at least two wines rated at 94 points or above, and had a five-star rating for the previous two years. 4.9%. Where the winery name is itself is printed in red, it is a winery generally acknowledged to have a long track record of excellence – truly the best of the best. 3.8%."

The most recent Heirloom Vineyards wine to be reviewed by James Halliday is the Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Pinot Noir 2012: "Clear colour; the fragrant bouquet has a complex web of red and black cherry/berry fruit, the palate continuing the complexity theme, thus there is no shortage of flavour." 92 points.

Sydney Top 100

2013 Heirloom Vineyards Eden Valley Riesling has won a Blue-Gold medal and been included in the Top 100 wines of the Sydney International Wine Competition, announced last week. Here are the judges comments:

Kym Milne MW - A very delicate and fresh Riesling, with very pure fruit. Lime and some spice characters. Very elegant long and pure with a lovely texture. Enhanced with the food. Not too sharp, just a lovely balanced wine.
Oliver Masters - Complex kaffir lime and zest on the nose. A rich, tight, dense palate, but remained elegant. A very powerful wine. It worked well with the food. It kept on travelling.
Brett Crittenden - Very tropical fruits. Mineral. Fresh flowers and white stone fruits. Lovely acidity and balance. In perfect harmony with the food. Wow! This really delivers.
Cameron Douglas MS - Lovely aromatic lift. Delicious fruit and minerality. An off dry style with lovely acidity which adds to the texture and finish. With the food I love it. It’s a really nice match. Harmony and synergy.

2013 Adelaide Hills Pinot Grigio also picked up a Blue-Gold award at the same show.

Heirloom Vineyards in the Daily Mail

Matthew Jukes recently reviewed our 2011 Heirloom Vineyards Barossa Shiraz in the Daily Mail:  "great value and incredible expertise in every glass. This is a very smart way of drinking elite wine for a reasonable spend!. The 2011 vintage was not a hot one so this wine is less pumped up and muscular than the 2010. This means that renowned winemaker Elena Brooks has engendered a harmonious, genial character into the wine with a more aromatic nose and a silkier, gentler, blackberry-themed palate. I really like the tender side of Heirloom and I venture that you will fall for its charms, too." Daily Mail February 22, 2014

Heirloom Vineyards Cellar Door at The Salopian Inn

The Salopian Inn in the McLaren Vale is the home of Heirloom Vineyards, our cellar door and our favourite place to be.

We recommend this dish - Moroccan Seafood Stew, grilled bread and saffron aioli - served with a glass of Heirloom Vineyards Adelaide Hills Sauvignon Blanc 2013. The Salopian Inn is on the corner Main and McMurtrie Roads, Mclaren Vale.
